Andy & the Walking Stick

The spider’s name is Andy,

& Andy’s very quick!

His family really loves him,

there’s a walking stick!

“Hello there, brother.

It’s nice to see a new face.

Although you look like a stick,

your company is what I embrace.”

“You are too kind, spider.

What all do you know?

I’m looking for a place to stay:

a new space, a new home.”

“I’m sorry for your struggles,

as such does not sound simple.

You’ve come to the right place,
may I remind you of my temple?”

“I really like the way it seems.

Is this real? Or all a dream?

The way a spider is so nice,

the smartest idea: consider twice.”

“I mean you no harm, I can assure you of that.

My sister left home, you reminded me of that.

It’s okay to be sad, it’s okay to be angry.

Perfection is not important, what’s important is bravery.

Stand up to your struggle, look it right in the face!

Look at where you are now, life is not a race.”

The Walking Stick stopped and thought for a moment…

Andy was right!

In no way, shape, or form would he run from a fight!

“It hasn’t been easy,

but I’m really glad I’m here.

I’m thankful for you,

your generosity brings me to tears.”

Andy showed the walking stick how much he knew about the world.

How it’s not that fun to walk towards death, without a place to stay, some kids, and your favorite girl.

You make my life worth living,

watching you grow and grow.

You’ll have my heart forever,

my dear I tell you so…
